Since the 1890’s the building that currently houses Soulard Preservation Hall has served as a meeting hall, a school, and theater.  The Ethical Society incorporated a Self Culture Association in 1893 and took out a building permit for the original building. In 1908 the building was purchased by the Sisters of the St. Lucas Slovak Evangelical Church who later sold it to the United Hungarian Societies who added the auditorium and used it as a community center.  The building was also used as a union hall and more recently owned by a

non- profit that’s goal was to save Soulard.

The renovation of Soulard Preservation Hall reconnects this important building to its’ historic surroundings in the Soulard neighborhood. Our challenge in renovating Soulard Preservation Hall is to provide the community with a fabulous and affordable place to exchange ideas, enjoy music and celebrate.  Our commitment is to provide the community with a gathering place dedicated to entertainment, hospitality and service. 

Soulard Preservation Hall can accommodate small meetings of 10 to large gatherings of up to 300.  The first floor bar and lounge can accommodate 10-50 people while the auditorium can hold up to 300 people.  All areas and restrooms on the first floor are handicap accessible.  Also on the first floor is a catering kitchen for use by our list of preferred caterers.  Two conference rooms are available on the second floor and can accommodate from 10-30 people.  These rooms are excellent for social or business gatherings. 

Amenities:

1.  Auditorium suitable for concerts and dinners with a large stage. The Auditorium will hold 175 for dinner or 250 for a concert. The auditorium has professional lighting systems.

2.  Bar and lounge with flat screen televisions and sound system. 

3.  Upstairs conference rooms with sound systems and flat screen TVs ideal for social gatherings or business meeting presentations.

4.  Intimate stone cellar lounge.

5.  Catering kitchen for food service.

6.  Full service bar.

7.  Outdoor front patio.
